This is quite possibly the most stunning beach I have ever been to.
After hiding away in London for a summer internship, I needed some sun and sand before going back to MBA life. I guess I couldn’t get enough of Portugal from my last trip, so I found myself back here again. This time, I was with Jade, Paul and Sergio in the south of Portugal – in a very beautiful part of the world called The Algarve.
We spent a sun-drenched afternoon at Praia da Marinha beach. Sergio complained it was way too crowded and touristy – and that every other beach on the road to Lagos looked the same as this one. But Jade and I were filled with awe of the giant rock formations that loomed above the sparkling blue water.
When it comes to beaches, I’ve been pretty spoilt for choices in Australia. But damn, Praia da Marinha might have singlehandedly sold me on European beaches.
We flew into Faro Airport and rented a car to drive along the southern Portuguese coastline. Everything you want to see is within a couple of hours drive from here.
I didn’t have time in one weekend to see everything on my list, but here are the spots just in case (from east to west): Tavira, Praia Da Marinha, Benagil Caves, Lagos and Sagres. I guess I’ll have to come back again to see it all!
